Francis Carlyle Kennedy, Sr.

Francis Carlyle Kennedy, Sr., 75, died October 24, 2008 at his residence. He was born in Savannah, son of the late Boyd G. and Anne Cosgrove Kennedy. Mr. Kennedy was a 1951 graduate of Benedictine Military School and a 1960 graduate of Belmont Abbey receiving a degree in liberal arts. He taught English for many years in the public school system and at Benedictine where he coached football and baseball. After his retirement from the school system, he worked as a clerk with the Clerk and Checkers Local 1475 retiring after 25 years. He was a communicant of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, past member of the Knights of Columbus No. 630, member St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee, charter member of the Irish Heritage Society and past president of the Parish Council at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Mary Frances Kennedy of Savannah; children, Mary Kekahbah and her husband, Curtis of Pawhuska, OK: Frank C. Kennedy, Jr. and his wife Lynn of Rincon; Laura Kline and her husband, Mike of Aiken, SC; Michelle Felix and her husband, Don of Orlando, FL; William Kennedy and his wife, Brandi of Savannah; mother-in-law, Maybell Lepscier of Murphy, NC; sisters-in-law, Sandra Fussell of Charlotte, NC; Fleeta Kennedy of Ludowici; nieces and nephews, Chris Fussell of Charlotte, NC; Elizabeth Thomas of Charlotte, NC; Mary Ann DeBorde of Twin City; Joseph DeBorde of Tybee Island; Vincent Fahey of Savannah; aunt, Lois Wyatt of Charlotte, NC; cousin, Linda Knight of Charlotte, NC; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Visitation: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2008 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel with a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial: 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 27, 2008 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with The Reverend Patrick O'Brien, Celebrant.

Pallbearers will be Frank C. Kennedy, Jr., Bo Kennedy, Michael Kline, Don Felix, Ed Fahey and Brian Fahey. Honorary pallbearers will be Benedictine Class of 1951.

Burial: Catholic Cemetery.
